Ruggero Deodato
Poseidonius Complete Works (3 volumes)
$ 66.18
Description The works of Stoic philosopher Poseidonius belongs to what many call “Middle Stoicism.” Between Zeno—after whom this philosophical movement was named Stoicism—and the later, widely known Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius, Poseidonius was a great thinker of antiquity, perhaps the most universal mind after Aristotle. A Stoic, yet with many personal views, he explored nearly all fields of knowledge, offering his philosophical perspectives on nature, natural philosophy, ethics, and society. His work survives primarily in fragments or through references by others. Fragments related to Poseidonius’ work are transmitted by Strabo, Sextus Empiricus, Proclus, and others. Through the pages of this collection, readers will gain a deeper understanding of the thought and legacy of this great thinker. The collection includes 3 volumes. Each volume includes the original text in Ancient Greek, translation in modern Greek, introduction and commentary.
