Description Hermes Trismegistus was the name used by the Greeks in antiquity for the Egyptian lunar god Thoth, the patron of astrology and alchemy, who was identified with the Olympian god Hermes. A series of Greek writings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus were written during Roman times and reflect the movement of Hermeticism. Hermeticism attempted to create a philosophical system with various influences from Platonism, Pythagoreanism, Judaism, Hellenistic magic, ancient Egyptian religion, ancient Greek mysteries, etc., as the changing ancient world turned to the search for the transcendental and the magical way of thinking. The series includes 4 volumes: Discourses I-XI Discourses XII-XVIII Fragments – Testimonies Magical Texts – Kyranides Each volume includes the original ancient text, its translation into modern Greek, and an introduction and/or commentary.
